OVER & ABOVE

Policy

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.

Last updated: 14 May 2026.

1. Commitment

Over & Above Aerial is committed to providing a working environment in which every employee, freelancer, supplier and client is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of any characteristic protected under the Equality Act 2010. We do not tolerate unlawful discrimination, harassment or victimisation in any part of our operation.

The construction sector and the production sector both have historical patterns of underrepresentation. We acknowledge those patterns and work actively to ensure our recruitment, engagement and progression practices do not reinforce them.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All employees of Blood Orange Ltd, on any contract type.
  • All freelancers and subcontractors engaged on Over & Above projects.
  • All suppliers and equipment hire partners.
  • All clients and members of the public encountered in the course of our work.

It applies on our premises, on construction sites where we are working, in any client setting, at industry events, and in all forms of communication including email, video calls, social media and messaging platforms.

3. Protected characteristics

We do not discriminate on the basis of any of the following characteristics, as defined by the Equality Act 2010:

  • Age.
  • Disability.
  • Gender reassignment.
  • Marriage and civil partnership.
  • Pregnancy and maternity.
  • Race (including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin).
  • Religion or belief.
  • Sex.
  • Sexual orientation.

4. Responsibilities

The Director. Sam Hendrick, as Director, holds final accountability for this policy. He approves the policy annually, authorises any changes, and acts as the final point of escalation for serious breaches.

Project producers. The producer on any given project is responsible for ensuring that crew engagement, on-site behaviour and client interaction reflect this policy. The producer is the first point of contact for any concern raised on a project.

Every individual. Every employee, freelancer and subcontractor is personally responsible for their own conduct. Every individual is also responsible for raising any concern they witness or experience.

5. Recruitment and engagement

When we recruit permanent staff or engage freelancers, we make decisions on the basis of skill, experience and fit for the work. We do not solicit information about protected characteristics in the engagement process beyond what is necessary for legitimate purposes (right to work documentation, statutory equal opportunities monitoring where applicable).

We use multiple sourcing channels to broaden our candidate pool. We actively seek to widen the freelance crew base beyond established industry networks, including engaging crew from underrepresented backgrounds where their skills meet the requirements of the work.

Day rates and engagement terms are set on the basis of role and experience. They are not adjusted on the basis of any protected characteristic.

6. Training, development and progression

Where we offer training, mentoring or progression opportunities, they are open to all members of the team and freelance crew on the basis of role and merit. We do not exclude any individual from a development opportunity on the basis of a protected characteristic.

We carry the cost of relevant professional qualifications (CSCS, GVC, A2 CofC, first aid) for permanent staff and regular freelancers. The same support is available to all team members regardless of background.

7. Harassment and bullying

We do not tolerate harassment, bullying or victimisation in any form. This includes:

  • Verbal conduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading or offensive environment.
  • Physical conduct, contact or threats.
  • Written or visual material (including digital) that is offensive or discriminatory.
  • Exclusion from professional opportunities on the basis of a protected characteristic.
  • Victimisation of any individual who raises a concern under this policy.

On construction sites, we operate under the principal contractor's conduct rules in addition to our own. Where the principal contractor's rules are stricter, we apply theirs.

8. Reporting concerns

Any individual who experiences or witnesses a breach of this policy may raise it through any of the following routes:

  • The producer on the project (first point of contact).
  • Sam Hendrick, Director, at sam@overaboveaerial.com or 0207 458 4997.
  • For concerns involving Sam directly, the company's accountancy and HR adviser, contactable by request.

Concerns are acknowledged within 24 hours. Investigations are conducted promptly, fairly and confidentially. We do not penalise or retaliate against any individual who raises a concern in good faith.

9. Monitoring

We monitor the effectiveness of this policy by:

  • Reviewing the diversity of our freelance crew base annually.
  • Recording and reviewing every concern raised under this policy.
  • Reviewing any sector or client-mandated EDI reporting requirements and confirming our practice meets them.

Findings are reviewed by the Director and inform any update to this policy.

10. Breach

A breach of this policy by an employee may lead to disciplinary action, including dismissal in serious cases. A breach by a freelancer or subcontractor may lead to immediate termination of the engagement and removal from the freelance roster. A breach by a supplier may lead to termination of the supplier relationship.

11. Approval and review

This policy is approved by Sam Hendrick, Director of Blood Orange Ltd, on 14 May 2026. It is reviewed annually and updated as required.
